Add to Calendar 2013-07-19 00:00:00 2013-07-21 00:00:00 Sixth International Hilandar Conference Ohio State’s Resource Center for Medieval Slavic Studies will host the 6th International Hilandar Conference, July 19 – 21, 2013 at the Blackwell Inn. The conference theme is Medieval Slavic Text and Image in the Cultures of Orthodoxy.The opening reception takes place on Friday evening, July 19 at 6 pm and will feature keynote speaker Mirjana Živojinović, Serbian Academy of Sciences and David Manderscheid, the new dean and vice provost of the College of  Arts Sciences.  Ohio State’s Resource Center for Medieval Slavic Studies is the only center in the U.S. dedicated to the study of medieval Slavic Studies, housing the largest collection of medieval Slavic manuscripts on microfilm in the world.The last International Hilandar Conference was held 11 years ago, in Serbia with Ohio State as host.Presentations20 papers will be presented at the 6th International Hilandar Conference in six panels on Saturday, July 20th (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and July 21 (9:00 am to 12:00 pm). The panel topics include "Hilandar Monastery," "Image - Visual Theology," "Focal Points of Culture," "Medieval Textual Tradition," "Liturgical Tradition," and "Reinterpreting the Textual Tradition."
